These pages are set in the Anglo Saxon Futhorc, letter for letter, so they can be read back into English. Single runes stand in for the digraphs TH, NG, EA, AE, EO, IO and OE. Following Old English practice, C serves for K, F serves for V, CW serves for Q, and Eolh serves for X and Z.

Who we are

Teach us the Runes is a quiet study and meditation site about the Anglo Saxon Futhorc. This policy explains what happens, and what does not happen, when you visit.

The short version

We do not ask you to make an account. We never ask for your name, your address, or your electronic mail. We sell nothing and we sell no data about anyone. There are no advertisements on this site and no advertising partners.

What stays on your own device

When you choose light reading or dark reading, that single choice is saved by your own browser in its local storage so the site remembers it next time. That setting never leaves your device and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser storage forgets it.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies. It loads no advertising trackers and no social media widgets. Apart from the small counting script described below, every file the pages need is served from this site itself.

How we count visits

To learn how many people visit and which pages they read, this site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. When a page loads, a small script from Cloudflare notes that the page was visited, with general detail such as the page address, the page that sent you here, your kind of browser and device, your country, and how quickly the page loaded.

Cloudflare states that this service sets no cookies, uses no local storage, and does not use your network address or any fingerprint to follow you from visit to visit or from site to site. We see only totals, never a record of any single reader. If your browser or an extension blocks the script, every page works just the same.

What our host may record

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like very nearly every host on the web, Cloudflare may record limited technical detail about a request, such as the network address it came from, the page asked for, the time it was asked for, and the kind of browser used. This exists so the site can be delivered and so it can be defended from attack and abuse. We do not use it to build a profile of any reader. Cloudflare handles that information under its own privacy terms.

Children

These pages are open reading for every age. We knowingly gather nothing from anyone at all, and that includes children.

Your choices

Because we hold no account and keep no record about you, there is nothing in our hands for us to correct or erase on request. You may clear the stored reading setting yourself at any moment from your own browser.
